                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, On January 26, 1999, participants in the Leadership
 1-2     Lubbock program will journey to the State Capitol, and their
 1-3     presence in Austin affords the members of this chamber an
 1-4     opportunity to recognize this organization's outstanding work; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Since its inception in 1976, Leadership Lubbock has
 1-6     trained men and women from every walk of life to effectively
 1-7     identify and respond to the needs of their communities; the program
 1-8     provides the opportunity to meet with business, civic, and
 1-9     government leaders to discuss a variety of issues, and in doing so
1-10     participants learn more about the challenges and opportunities
1-11     facing Texas today; and
1-12           WHEREAS, While in Austin, members of the organization will
1-13     observe the Texas House of Representatives in session, tour the
1-14     historic grounds of the Capitol, and  confer with members of their
1-15     legislative delegation, and the day's activities promise to be as
1-16     informative as they are enjoyable; and
1-17           WHEREAS, The interest of these citizens in the operation of
1-18     state government, and in particular the legislative process, merits
1-19     special recognition, as this type of commitment and dedication
1-20     forms the very backbone of the democratic process; now, therefore,
1-21     be it
1-22           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-23     Legislature hereby recognize Leadership Lubbock as an outstanding
1-24     civic program and extend a warm welcome to its visiting members;
 2-1     and, be it further
 2-2           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-3     prepared for Leadership Lubbock as a commemoration of this occasion
 2-4     and as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of
 2-5     Representatives.
