R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The Reverend Miller Robinson has faithfully served
1-2 the Christian ministry, and his compassionate regard for the
1-3 welfare of others has enriched the lives of many people; and
1-4 WHEREAS, Pastor Robinson is a graduate of Gatesville High
1-5 School, Baylor University, and Southwestern Baptist Theological
1-6 Seminary; in 1954, at the age of 19, he began his ecclesiastical
1-7 career as pastor at Coryell Baptist Church, which he served until
1-8 1957; and
1-9 WHEREAS, From 1958 to 1964, Pastor Robinson presided over
1-10 three different religious institutions before moving to Snyder and
1-11 beginning a 32-year tenure as the second pastor ever to serve the
1-12 congregation of Colonial Hill Baptist Church; currently, he is the
1-13 interim pastor at the First Baptist Church of Gatesville; and
1-14 WHEREAS, During his ministry at Colonial Hill Baptist Church,
1-15 Pastor Robinson oversaw many important initiatives, including the
1-16 construction of an auditorium, two new buildings, several
1-17 remodeling projects, and a renovation of the church's hallways; and
1-18 WHEREAS, This respected clergyman has been a trustee at
1-19 Howard Payne University, Baptist Memorial Geriatric Center, and
1-20 Valley Baptist Academy, in addition to participating in evangelical
1-21 crusades in Africa, Korea, Japan, and Jamaica; his denominational
1-22 services include being a moderator for several Baptist
1-23 associations, sitting on the executive board of the Baptist General
1-24 Convention of Texas, and serving as a member of the administrative
2-1 committee and the State Missions Commission of the Baptist General
2-2 Convention of Texas; and
2-3 WHEREAS, Pastor Robinson has also been active with the
2-4 Economic Development Corporation of Snyder and has served as
2-5 chairman of the Economic Development Committee for the Snyder
2-6 Chamber of Commerce; and
2-7 WHEREAS, Throughout the years, this devoted family man has
2-8 enjoyed the love and support of his wife, Sandra, and his two
2-9 children, John Lloyd Robinson of Dallas and Kinney F. Robinson of
2-10 Gatesville; and
2-11 WHEREAS, Pastor Robinson's outstanding leadership and strong
2-12 faith have been a tremendous source of inspiration to all those
2-13 fortunate enough to know him, and he is indeed deserving of special
2-14 legislative recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it
2-15 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
2-16 Legislature hereby honor the Reverend Miller Robinson for his many
2-17 accomplishments and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
2-18 success and happiness in the years to come; and, be it further
2-19 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-20 prepared for the Reverend Robinson as an expression of high regard
2-21 by the Texas House of Representatives.
