R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The House of Representatives of the State of Texas 1-2 is pleased to recognize the Caldwell High School girls volleyball 1-3 team for winning the Class 3A state championship; and 1-4 WHEREAS, The Lady Hornets won two out of three games against 1-5 the Lamesa Lady Tornados by scores of 15-2, 13-15, and 15-9 in 1-6 Austin; and 1-7 WHEREAS, The thrilling win was the first time a Caldwell 1-8 girls volleyball team won a state championship; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Their successful year is a tribute to the girls' 1-10 outstanding talent and the loyal team spirit they consistently 1-11 displayed; and 1-12 WHEREAS, The Lady Hornets volleyball team's notable success 1-13 is attributable to the exceptional guidance of the coaching staff 1-14 and to the competitive spirit that characterized the overall 1-15 performances of the team members and their coach, Caroline Simpson, 1-16 and her assistant coaches, Wendy Weiss and Marla Mitchell; and 1-17 WHEREAS, These young athletes and their coaches have brought 1-18 honor to themselves, Caldwell High School, and their community; the 1-19 Lady Hornets are certainly worthy of the recognition bestowed on 1-20 them; now, therefore, be it 1-21 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 1-22 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the Caldwell High School Lady 1-23 Hornets volleyball team and their coaches for winning the 1998 1-24 Class 3A state championship; and, be it further 2-1 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-2 prepared for the team members and coaching staff of the Caldwell 2-3 High School girls volleyball team as an expression of best wishes 2-4 from the Texas House of Representatives.
