                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The efforts of the San Benito Lions' Club in
 1-2     bringing aid to the hurricane-ravaged Honduran island of Guanaja
 1-3     are indeed worthy of special praise and recognition; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, When Guanaja was struck by Hurricane Mitch, the
 1-5     storm's devastating rains and winds caused severe damage and left
 1-6     many of the island's residents in desperate need of supplies; the
 1-7     San Benito Lions' Club responded to this overwhelming disaster by
 1-8     engineering a relief effort that sent food, clothing, water, and
 1-9     tools to the beleaguered islanders; and
1-10           WHEREAS, The San Benito Lions' Club, led by members Victor
1-11     Garza and Roel Villarreal, was assisted in this philanthropic cause
1-12     by Ballanger Construction Company, the Age Box Company, Cub Scout
1-13     Den No. 31, and many others who donated whatever they could,
1-14     working diligently to help the people of Guanaja; and
1-15           WHEREAS, This estimable endeavor exemplifies the true
1-16     humanitarian spirit of the members of the San Benito Lions' Club,
1-17     and their willingness to reach out to those in need is truly
1-18     commendable; now, therefore, be it
1-19           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-20     Legislature hereby honor the San Benito Lions' Club for providing
1-21     much-needed aid to the island of Guanaja and extend to that
1-22     organization sincere best wishes for continued success in its many
1-23     worthy endeavors in the years to come; and, be it further
1-24           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-1     prepared for the San Benito Lions' Club as an expression of high
 2-2     regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
