By West H.R. No. 90 76R3711 MDM-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of William B. "Bill" Miller, on December 1-2 3, 1998, at the age of 62, brought a great loss to the family and 1-3 friends of this beloved gentleman, and it is most appropriate that 1-4 we pay tribute to his life at this time; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Born in Odessa on February 19, 1936, to Herbert 1-6 Miller and Florence VanZant Miller, he graduated from Odessa High 1-7 School and attended Odessa College; in 1957, he entered the United 1-8 States Army and served his country with distinction in Germany for 1-9 three years before receiving an honorary discharge; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Mr. Miller was a devoted family man who enjoyed a 1-11 strong and lasting relationship with his wife of 34 years, Gyndolin 1-12 "Gyn" Goumas Miller, and their union was blessed with two daughters 1-13 and a granddaughter; and 1-14 WHEREAS, During his exemplary 27-year career in government 1-15 service as a border patrolman, he set standards to which all in his 1-16 field could aspire and held posts in El Paso and Carlsbad until his 1-17 retirement on June 30, 1986; and 1-18 WHEREAS, An avid gun collector and marksman, Mr. Miller was 1-19 an endowment member of the National Rifle Association; he was also 1-20 interested in metallurgy, genealogy, and history, and he greatly 1-21 enjoyed the friendships he made through the sociable hobbies of 1-22 storytelling, bridge, and dominoes; and 1-23 WHEREAS, William B. "Bill" Miller was a man of rare 1-24 dedication and creativity, and although his guidance and devotion 2-1 will be missed by all who knew him, his remarkable spirit will live 2-2 on in the hearts and minds of the many individuals whose lives he 2-3 touched; now, therefore, be it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-5 Legislature hereby honor the memory of William B. "Bill" Miller, 2-6 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his 2-7 wife, Gyndolin "Gyn" Miller; to his daughters, Pam Dunlap and Kim 2-8 Hernandez; to his brothers, Herbert Miller, Gary Miller, and Rod 2-9 Miller; to his sister, Rosemary Browning; to his granddaughter; and 2-10 to the many other relatives and friends of this esteemed gentleman; 2-11 and, be it further 2-12 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-13 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-14 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-15 William B. "Bill" Miller.
