R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, On February 16, 1999, members of the Denison
 1-2     Leadership Institute will be visiting the State Capitol in Austin
 1-3     as part of their continuing commitment to the development of new
 1-4     community leaders; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Since 1984, members of this remarkable organization
 1-6     have dedicated themselves to broadening the volunteer leadership
 1-7     base; they are committed to the idea that leadership is not only an
 1-8     honor, but a public responsibility as well, for all responsible
 1-9     citizens; and
1-10           WHEREAS, In identifying and training new leaders, the Denison
1-11     Leadership Institute provides opportunities for communication
1-12     between established and emerging leaders, enhancing  experience and
1-13     ability at all levels of governance; and
1-14           WHEREAS, The institute's program consists of nine monthly
1-15     sessions, each addressing specific topics vital to a growing
1-16     community; the emphasis is on education and information, for new
1-17     problems require new solutions from leaders with new ideas; and
1-18           WHEREAS, More than 200 participants have graduated from the
1-19     Denison Leadership Institute in its first 15 years of operation,
1-20     and it has become a widely recognized and respected source of
1-21     trained, qualified leaders for a variety of public and private
1-22     agencies, organizations, planning bodies, and commissions; and
1-23           WHEREAS, The future of the State of Texas is indivisibly
1-24     bound with the future of its individual communities, for as
 2-1     citizens prosper so Texas prospers; organizations such as the
 2-2     Denison Leadership Institute are vital to that prosperous future,
 2-3     and it is indeed appropriate that the group's members be given
 2-4     special legislative recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it
 2-5           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-6     Legislature hereby welcome members of the Denison Leadership
 2-7     Institute and recognize this unique organization's exceptional
 2-8     labors in  behalf of tomorrow's leaders; and, be it further
 2-9           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-10     prepared for the Denison Leadership Institute as an expression of
2-11     high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
