                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The retirement of Lyndon Anderson as the associate
 1-2     commissioner for property and casualty for the Texas Department of
 1-3     Insurance (TDI) brings to a close the career of a remarkable public
 1-4     servant, and he is truly worthy of special praise and recognition
 1-5     at this time; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, A native of Georgetown, Mr. Anderson worked for the
 1-7     Texas Insurance Checking Office for six years before joining TDI in
 1-8     September 1968 as a rater on the mobile fire rating crew; during
 1-9     his career he held several prestigious positions, including
1-10     district supervisor of property rating for the Dallas area,
1-11     director of inland marine insurance and commercial multiperil,
1-12     manager of the insurance lines section, and deputy commissioner in
1-13     charge of the property insurance activity; and
1-14           WHEREAS, Partly to compensate for the impending loss of
1-15     Mr. Anderson's talents when he retires on February 5, 1999, the
1-16     Regulation and Safety division was reorganized last year, enabling
1-17     him to spend the remainder of his time at TDI working as a
1-18     consultant and mentor to a new generation of managers; and
1-19           WHEREAS, This esteemed gentleman has long been considered a
1-20     valuable source of institutional knowledge as he possesses a broad
1-21     understanding of the entire property and casualty spectrum,
1-22     including title insurance; on numerous occasions he has served as a
1-23     resource witness and educator on insurance issues to many members
1-24     of the Texas Legislature, earning the respect and admiration of
 2-1     many members; and
 2-2           WHEREAS, Following his well-deserved retirement from TDI,
 2-3     Mr. Anderson and his beloved wife, Pam, plan to continue operating
 2-4     an antique business they own in Georgetown; and
 2-5           WHEREAS, For 30 years, Lyndon Anderson has distinguished
 2-6     himself as a public servant of ability and integrity, and it is
 2-7     indeed appropriate to pay tribute to him and recognize his many
 2-8     contributions to his fellow Texans; now, therefore, be it
 2-9           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
2-10     Legislature hereby recognize Lyndon Anderson on the occasion of his
2-11     retirement and extend to him sincere best wishes for success and
2-12     happiness in the years to come; and, be it further
2-13           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-14     prepared for Mr. Anderson as an expression of high regard by the
2-15     Texas House of Representatives.
