R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Rockport-Fulton High School Choir has been
 1-2     selected to attend the American Celebration of Music in Austria,
 1-3     and this outstanding achievement is indeed worthy of special
 1-4     praise; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, This estimable music festival, organized by Music
 1-6     Celebrations International of Tempe, Arizona, will take place July
 1-7     7-20, 1999, and honors the rich musical and cultural heritage of
 1-8     Austria, featuring performances in the cities of Vienna, Salzburg,
 1-9     Graz, and Innsbruck; and
1-10           WHEREAS, The Rockport-Fulton High School Choir was chosen to
1-11     attend this renowned event based on recommendations from state
1-12     music officials, past achievements, and current University
1-13     Interscholastic League superior ratings; during the past 20 years
1-14     this award-winning choir has consistently earned superior ratings
1-15     and sweepstakes trophies while performing at festivals throughout
1-16     the world; and
1-17           WHEREAS, Under the direction of Martha Luigi, the 115-member
1-18     choir will sing to enthusiastic Austrian audiences and participate
1-19     in a complete program of orientation meetings, sightseeing, and
1-20     cultural exchanges and activities; and
1-21           WHEREAS, The members of the Rockport-Fulton High School Choir
1-22     will showcase their talents in Austrian cities that have nurtured
1-23     the careers of some of the world's greatest musical geniuses,
1-24     including Beethoven, Brahms, and Strauss, and for being chosen to
 2-1     represent the State of Texas in this prestigious music festival, it
 2-2     is truly fitting that these young people be recognized at this
 2-3     time; now, therefore, be it
 2-4           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-5     Legislature hereby honor the Rockport-Fulton High School Choir for
 2-6     being invited to attend the American Celebration of Music in
 2-7     Austria and extend to its members sincere best wishes for continued
 2-8     success in the years to come; and, be it further
 2-9           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-10     prepared for director Martha Luigi and the Rockport-Fulton High
2-11     School Choir as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of
2-12     Representatives.
