R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans 1-2 who have remained devoted to one another for 50 memorable years is 1-3 indeed an occasion worthy of special recognition; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Allen and Jean Humphreys celebrated their golden 1-5 wedding anniversary with a trip to San Francisco, California, a 1-6 gift from their children; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Mr. Humphreys and the former Jean Burkett were 1-8 united in matrimony on December 4, 1948, in Odessa, and through the 1-9 years they have shared an enduring relationship based on love and 1-10 respect for each other; and 1-11 WHEREAS, The couple lived in both Andrews and Lovington, New 1-12 Mexico, before moving to Texas and settling in Midland in 1967; 1-13 Mr. Humphreys worked for Shell Oil Company for 25 years and Damson 1-14 Oil Corporation for 10 years, while Mrs. Humphreys has been a 1-15 loving companion to her husband and caring mother to the couple's 1-16 two children, Ron and Randy Humphreys; the Humphreys have been 1-17 further blessed with six grandchildren; and 1-18 WHEREAS, After half a century of companionship, Mr. and 1-19 Mrs. Humphreys still cherish their time together and enjoy 1-20 attending St. Paul United Methodist Church; their remarkable 1-21 marriage has produced a fine family and many joyous memories, and 1-22 it is fitting that they be honored at this time; now, therefore, be 1-23 it 1-24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-1 Legislature hereby congratulate Allen and Jean Humphreys on the 2-2 occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them 2-3 sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness in the 2-4 years to come; and, be it further 2-5 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-6 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Humphreys as an expression of high regard 2-7 by the Texas House of Representatives.
