R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary is truly cause for a
1-2 celebration, and on January 23, 1999, James and Golda Lindsey of
1-3 Midland observed one such significant occasion in the company of
1-4 their family and friends; and
1-5 WHEREAS, Mr. Lindsey and the former Golda Alice Barrington
1-6 were married on January 21, 1949, in Abilene; this devoted couple
1-7 have enjoyed a strong and happy union that has been blessed with a
1-8 daughter and a grandchild; and
1-9 WHEREAS, A highly valued employee of United Bearing, where he
1-10 worked as a machinist, Mr. Lindsey retired from the company in
1-11 1988; Mrs. Lindsey also retired that year, concluding a successful
1-12 40-year career with Southwestern Bell Telephone; and
1-13 WHEREAS, Former longtime residents of Abilene, the couple
1-14 have made their home in Midland since 1976 and are active members
1-15 of Community Bible Church; and
1-16 WHEREAS, For five decades, Mr. and Mrs. Lindsey have shared
1-17 many happy times and cherished memories; their commitment to each
1-18 other is a source of great pride to their family and friends, and
1-19 it is indeed appropriate that they be honored at this time; now,
1-20 therefore, be it
1-21 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-22 Legislature hereby congratulate James and Golda Lindsey on the
1-23 occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them
1-24 sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
2-1 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-2 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Lindsey as an expression of high regard
2-3 by the Texas House of Representatives.
