R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, On February 3, 1999, Bryan Clayton of Ballinger will 1-2 celebrate his 90th birthday in the company of his many friends and 1-3 relatives, and his long, productive life and deep commitment to 1-4 Texas traditions make this an occasion truly worthy of special 1-5 legislative recognition; and 1-6 WHEREAS, A lifelong Runnels County resident, Mr. Clayton was 1-7 born on February 3, 1909, one of 14 children born to Finis and 1-8 Addie Clayton; he still farms and ranches the property on which he 1-9 was raised, land his family has worked since the 1870s; and 1-10 WHEREAS, On December 13, 1931, he and his beloved wife, 1-11 Zeola, were united in marriage, and the pair shared 57 years of 1-12 loving memories before her passing in 1989; they were blessed with 1-13 three children, F. E. Clayton, Nancy Hallmark, and Patsy Leonard, 1-14 who have in turn established families of their own, and this 1-15 remarkable Texas clan now includes seven grandchildren and 10 1-16 great-grandchildren; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Mr. Clayton's children have pursued the venerable 1-18 Lone Star vocations of farming and ranching that are so deeply 1-19 instilled in them, and this loving father and friend can always be 1-20 counted on for wise counsel in matters of ranching, as well as 1-21 examples of the keen wit for which he is known; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Mr. Clayton has devoted his life to caring for his 1-23 family and the land they love, and it is indeed a pleasure to 1-24 recognize him at this time; now, therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-2 Legislature hereby honor Bryan Clayton on the occasion of his 90th 2-3 birthday and extend to him and his proud family warmest wishes for 2-4 continued happiness; and, be it further 2-5 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-6 prepared for Mr. Clayton as an expression of high regard by the 2-7 Texas House of Representatives.
