R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Mr. Thomas Lee Dove, the descendent of a Texas slave 1-2 plantation owner, will celebrate his 80th birthday on February 27, 1-3 1999; and 1-4 WHEREAS, He served his country in 1942 in what was then the 1-5 Army-Air Force in World War II; and 1-6 WHEREAS, He is also committed to political issues and an 1-7 active voter; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Mr. Dove is a person who leads a life giving to 1-9 others; he has taken many people into his home to help them get on 1-10 their feet; his house is described as "The Do Drop In"; his door is 1-11 open to the elderly, the sick, and others in need; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Mr. Dove plays a major role in exposing children to 1-13 the finer things in life and teaches children to become more 1-14 responsible adults; and 1-15 WHEREAS, His dedication to his family is never ending; he 1-16 adopts many of his relatives' children and neighborhood children to 1-17 attend family vacations; and 1-18 WHEREAS, He organizes neighborhood camping trips where many 1-19 people would go and learn to camp and fish; and 1-20 WHEREAS, He continues to be the backbone for his community 1-21 and family; now, therefore, be it 1-22 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th 1-23 Legislature of the State of Texas hereby honor Mr. Thomas Lee Dove 1-24 for his life-long commitment to helping others and extend to him 2-1 best wishes for continued happiness and success; and, be it further 2-2 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-3 prepared for Mr. Thomas Lee Dove as a token of esteem from the 2-4 Texas House of Representatives.
