R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, On February 7, 1999, Vincent and Catherine Hechler
 1-2     will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary in the company of
 1-3     their relatives and many friends; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, United in matrimony on February 9, 1949, the
 1-5     Hechlers exchanged their wedding vows in a makeshift church located
 1-6     in a local warehouse; this curious circumstance was made necessary
 1-7     after a fire destroyed St. Anthony's Catholic Church, and despite
 1-8     the tragic loss of that place of worship, the memorable occasion
 1-9     has undoubtedly served as a wonderful anecdote throughout their
1-10     five decades of marriage; and
1-11           WHEREAS, Friends since they attended school together, this
1-12     notable couple did not begin dating until after Mr. Hechler's
1-13     discharge from the navy in 1948, and they have been inseparable
1-14     ever since; blessed with more than 40 nieces and nephews, as well
1-15     as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, they are respected
1-16     members of their community; and
1-17           WHEREAS, A former rice farmer, Mr. Hechler worked for JACO
1-18     Construction for a number of years; he is the recipient of the 1996
1-19     Mason Grand Lodge Award as Outstanding Community Leader and enjoys
1-20     collecting and repairing windmills; and
1-21           WHEREAS, This energetic individual is also an avid gardener
1-22     and has been honored by the Brazoria County Agriculture Extension
1-23     Service for having grown the largest tomato, radish, and eggplant;
1-24     and
 2-1           WHEREAS, Mrs. Hechler has been a loving and supportive wife
 2-2     throughout their life together; she touched the lives of countless
 2-3     students as a teacher in Danbury and retired after a fulfilling
 2-4     30-year career in education; and
 2-5           WHEREAS, Vincent and Catherine Hechler have built their
 2-6     marriage on a foundation of love, trust, and mutual respect, and
 2-7     their joyful union is indeed an inspiration to all who know them;
 2-8     now, therefore, be it
 2-9           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
2-10     Legislature hereby congratulate Vincent and Catherine Hechler on
2-11     the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them
2-12     sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it
2-13     further
2-14           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-15     prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Hechler to commemorate their golden
2-16     anniversary and as an expression of high regard by the Texas House
2-17     of Representatives.
