R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Midland High School head basketball coach Jack 1-2 Stephenson has been named Texas Basketball Coach of the Year, and 1-3 this outstanding accolade is indeed worthy of special recognition; 1-4 and 1-5 WHEREAS, Coach Stephenson guided the Midland High Bulldogs to 1-6 the 1998 Texas Class 5A state basketball title, posting an 1-7 impressive 36-2 record; in the 1999 season the Bulldogs have 1-8 continued to play like champions, piling up victories as they march 1-9 to defend their state crown; and 1-10 WHEREAS, The Texas Basketball Coach of the Year designation 1-11 is bestowed by the National Federation Interscholastic Coaches 1-12 Association, and by earning such a prestigious distinction, Coach 1-13 Stephenson is now eligible for the national Coach of the Year award 1-14 given out during the college basketball Final Four tournament in 1-15 March; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Jack Stephenson has distinguished himself as a truly 1-17 gifted coach and a superb hard court strategist, and it is truly 1-18 fitting that he be recognized at this time; now, therefore, be it 1-19 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 1-20 Legislature hereby honor Jack Stephenson on his selection as Texas 1-21 Basketball Coach of the Year and extend to him sincere best wishes 1-22 for continued success and happiness; and, be it further 1-23 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 1-24 prepared for Coach Stephenson as an expression of high regard by 2-1 the Texas House of Representatives.
