R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The House of Representatives of the State of Texas 1-2 is pleased to recognize the Teen Court Program and the Teen Court 1-3 Bar Association as they visit the State Capitol on February 15, 1-4 1999; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Functioning as a parallel judicial system which 1-6 relies on sentences of community service instead of punitive fines, 1-7 Teen Court allows teens to choose judgement by their peers; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Providing a valuable means of intervention in the 1-9 lives of teenagers, the goals of the Teen Court Program are to 1-10 further legal education for students, nurture an understanding of 1-11 the legal system, and produce many networking opportunities for the 1-12 teens participating; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Required to attend training sessions, Teen Court 1-14 volunteers also must be recommended by their coordinator and pass 1-15 the Bar Examination before being admitted to the Teen Court Bar 1-16 Association of Texas; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Volunteers Shaneka Reese, Emily Olson, Christi 1-18 Casey, Parveneh Fakheri, Michael Jones, Jason Allen, Jeremy Gordon, 1-19 Devin Zakutney, Danielle Byno, Becky Reagan, Bethany Grohman, 1-20 Christi McDaniels, Ryan Cobb, Tremane Barclay, and Anthony Ortega 1-21 were recently inducted as charter members of the Teen Court Bar 2-1 Association of Texas; and 2-2 WHEREAS, All Texans are encouraged to congratulate the 2-3 inductees into the Teen Court Bar Association of Texas; now, 2-4 therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the State of 2-6 Texas, 76th Legislature, hereby acknowledge the positive impact 2-7 which the Teen Court and the Teen Court Bar Association has on 2-8 young Texans; and, be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an 2-10 expression of the high regard and esteem of the Texas House of 2-11 Representatives.
