R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The student filmmakers from El Paso's Valley View 1-2 Middle School claimed the top prize in the Film Festival 1-3 competition held recently in Austin, and this stellar achievement 1-4 is indeed worthy of special praise and recognition; and 1-5 WHEREAS, This statewide video competition is sponsored by the 1-6 Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA), offering students the 1-7 opportunity to demonstrate their abilities as budding filmmakers, 1-8 and Valley View's first-place victory in the documentary category 1-9 for their film titled "Jurassic Yard" is truly a memorable 1-10 accomplishment; and 1-11 WHEREAS, The Valley View Middle School crew members include 1-12 Nancy Escarsega, Celina Rodriguez, Vicky Olivas, Ruben Castillo, 1-13 and teacher Patsy Getty, and on February 16, 1999, at a reception 1-14 being held at the Austin Convention Center, they will be presented 1-15 with their award and honored for their cinematic skills; and 1-16 WHEREAS, This impressive accolade will long serve as a source 1-17 of great pride to the members of the Valley View Middle School 1-18 filmmaking crew, and it is most fitting at this time that we honor 1-19 them for their significant accomplishment; now, therefore, be it 1-20 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 1-21 Legislature hereby congratulate the Valley View Middle School 1-22 student filmmakers on their first-place finish in the TCEA Film 1-23 Festival competition and extend to them sincere best wishes for 1-24 continued success and happiness; and, be it further 2-1 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-2 prepared for these deserving students as an expression of high 2-3 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
