By Oliveira H.R. No. 202 76R5570 JBR-F R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Public Utilities Board of Brownsville and the 1-2 Southmost Regional Water Authority are constructing the Brownsville 1-3 Weir and Reservoir on the Rio Grande approximately eight river 1-4 miles downstream of the Gateway Bridge in Brownsville; and 1-5 WHEREAS, The Brownsville Reservoir will be located within the 1-6 existing bank of the Rio Grande and have a capacity of 6,000 1-7 acre-feet (approximately two billion gallons) of water, and will 1-8 generate up to 40,000 acre-feet of water per year; and 1-9 WHEREAS, The Brownsville Weir and Reservoir is included in 1-10 the Texas Water Development Board's State Water Plan; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Water will be released downstream to satisfy flow 1-12 requirements of agriculture, marine, and environmental interests, 1-13 and the extra water will be available to the people of Brownsville 1-14 and the Southmost Regional Water Authority; now, therefore, be it 1-15 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 1-16 Legislature hereby support the Public Utilities Board of 1-17 Brownsville and the Southmost Regional Water Authority on the 1-18 construction of the Brownsville Weir and Reservoir; and, be it 1-19 further 1-20 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared 1-21 for the Public Utilities Board of Brownsville and the Southmost 1-22 Regional Water Authority.
