R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to 1-2 welcome students and faculty from Corpus Christi's Roy Miller High 1-3 School to the State Capitol on this day, February 16, 1999; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A center for communications and technology, Roy 1-5 Miller High School was named after former Corpus Christi mayor Roy 1-6 Miller and is committed to graduating responsible citizens who 1-7 possess the confidence and skills necessary to succeed in today's 1-8 global community; and 1-9 WHEREAS, The curriculum of the school addresses the 1-10 educational and career needs of each student, affording them the 1-11 opportunity to receive a well-rounded education while focusing on 1-12 such skills as independent and collaborative learning, critical and 1-13 creative thought, problem solving, effective communication, and 1-14 quality performance; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Roy Miller High School aims to create a new vision 1-16 of education, and through the collaborative efforts of students, 1-17 teachers, and parents, the school is generating many skilled and 1-18 productive citizens each year, and as representatives of this 1-19 outstanding institution gather at the State Capitol, it is indeed 1-20 fitting to recognize them; now, therefore, be it 1-21 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 1-22 Legislature hereby welcome the members of the visiting delegation 1-23 from Roy Miller High School to the State Capitol and extend to them 1-24 sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be 2-1 it further 2-2 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-3 prepared for the students and faculty of Roy Miller High School as 2-4 an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
