R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The family and many friends of the Honorable Andy
 1-2     James were greatly saddened by his passing on April 1, 1998, at the
 1-3     age of 81, and we join them in mourning the loss of this notable
 1-4     Texan; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Born March 10, 1917, in Hill County, Mr. James
 1-6     received his early education in Hillsboro public schools;
 1-7     continuing his education, he attended Hill Junior College and The
 1-8     University of Texas at Austin before World War II; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, This patriotic gentleman proudly served his country
1-10     as a member of the armed forces during the war and was honorably
1-11     discharged when it ended; after returning home, he finished his
1-12     education at Baylor University in Waco; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Mr. James successfully ran for a seat in the Texas
1-14     House of Representatives and served the citizens of Hill County
1-15     with the utmost distinction during the 50th and 51st Texas
1-16     Legislatures; in addition, he was a devoted employee  of the Texas
1-17     Real Estate Commission for 30 years; and
1-18           WHEREAS, A longtime member of St. John's United Methodist
1-19     Church, Mr. James shared his faith and insight with others as a
1-20     member of the Friendship Sunday School Class for many years, and,
1-21     after his retirement in 1982, he was also able to dedicate more
1-22     time to playing golf with his friends; and
1-23           WHEREAS, Though the counsel and warmth of this Lone Star
1-24     native will long be missed, his spirit will surely remain in the
 2-1     hearts and minds of the many people whose lives he touched for many
 2-2     years to come; now, therefore, be it
 2-3           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-4     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of the Honorable Andy
 2-5     James and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family:  to
 2-6     his wife, Georgia James; to his son and daughter-in-law, Nick and
 2-7     Toni James; to his daughter, Maryanne Lancaster, and son-in-law,
 2-8     Kevin Lancaster; to his five grandsons, Nicholas, Matthew, and
 2-9     Benjamin James and Kenneth and Christopher Richey; and to the many
2-10     other relatives and friends of this remarkable gentleman; and, be
2-11     it further
2-12           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-13     prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
2-14     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
2-15     the Honorable Andy James.
