No. 215 76R6342 JBR-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Edwin Earl "Red" Brewer of Brazoria 1-2 County on July 10, 1997, at the age of 66, brought a great loss to 1-3 the family, friends, and community of this esteemed gentleman; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Born in Natchez, Mississippi, on January 4, 1931, 1-5 Mr. Brewer graduated from Freeport High School in 1948; he received 1-6 a bachelor of arts degree in math from Texas A&M University and his 1-7 law degree from The University of Texas at Austin; and 1-8 WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman practiced as an 1-9 attorney for 16 years before assuming the position of county judge, 1-10 and throughout his distinguished 12-year tenure in that role he 1-11 served the citizens of Brazoria County with integrity and 1-12 dedication; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Mr. Brewer enjoyed membership in numerous legal 1-14 organizations, including the American Bar Association, Texas Bar 1-15 Association, and Brazoria County Bar Association; and 1-16 WHEREAS, A vital and valued member of his community, he was a 1-17 past president of the Danbury Chamber of Commerce, a former trustee 1-18 of Danbury Independent School District, a judge advocate, and a 1-19 member of Danbury American Legion Post 501; in addition, he was a 1-20 past president of the Brazoria County Fair Association and the 1-21 Danbury PTA, as well as a past president and chairman of the board 1-22 of First Danbury State Bank; and 1-23 WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to share the friendship 1-24 and love of "Red" Brewer will long miss his presence and his 2-1 capable guidance, and he will surely be remembered with great 2-2 affection and admiration for many years to come; now, therefore, be 2-3 it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-5 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Edwin Earl "Red" 2-6 Brewer and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: 2-7 to his wife, Dorothy Jewel Peacock Brewer; to his children, J. H. 2-8 "Tim" Tigner III, Ro'Vin Novak Garrett, Jo Ellen Robertson, and 2-9 R. A. "Andy" Novak; to his 12 grandchildren; and to the many other 2-10 relatives and friends of this beloved gentleman; and, be it further 2-11 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-12 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-13 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-14 Edwin Earl "Red" Brewer.
