R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Texas Hearing and Service Dogs, Inc., is a nonprofit 1-2 organization that consistently achieves two worthy goals, for not 1-3 only does it provide hearing and service dogs free-of-charge to 1-4 Texans in need of such assistance, but is also rescues unwanted 1-5 dogs from shelters across the Lone Star State; and 1-6 WHEREAS, This organization is also unique in that only 1-7 positive reinforcement is used to train the dogs to perform tasks 1-8 that are frequently complicated; the Austin Police Department has 1-9 been so impressed with the organization's methods that it has asked 1-10 its founder, Sheri Henderson, to assist the department with the 1-11 training of its rescue dogs; and 1-12 WHEREAS, On February 20, 1999, Texas Hearing and Service 1-13 Dogs, Inc., will attempt to earn a listing in the Guinness Book of 1-14 World Records by breaking the record for the number of dogs walked 1-15 at one time, and the event will undoubtedly increase awareness of 1-16 and support for this notable organization; now, therefore, be it 1-17 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 1-18 Legislature hereby congratulate Texas Hearing and Service Dogs, 1-19 Inc., on serving such a noble purpose and extend sincere best 1-20 wishes to the organization's staff as they attempt to break the 1-21 world record; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official 1-22 copy of this resolution be prepared for Texas Hearing and Service 1-23 Dogs, Inc., as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of 1-24 Representatives.
