R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, For nearly 20 years, Les Norton, Glen Jackson, and
1-2 Luis Lidsky have served as co-hosts of the Laredo broadcast of the
1-3 Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon on KGNS-TV; and
1-4 WHEREAS, Known as "Los Tres Amigos," these dedicated local
1-5 businessmen take the stage each year with KGNS news anchor Richard
1-6 Noriega and direct their considerable energies toward raising
1-7 donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association; and
1-8 WHEREAS, The trio, whose animated hijinks and nonstop on-air
1-9 vivacity never fail to delight viewers, help the Laredo telethon
1-10 raise more than $135,000 each year, one of the nation's highest per
1-11 capita pledge amounts and a significant accomplishment for a city
1-12 considered one of the poorest in the nation; and
1-13 WHEREAS, Los Tres Amigos also host an annual Humanitarian
1-14 Award Dinner and Roast, which honors the city's business and civic
1-15 leaders and raises additional funds for MDA; their commitment to
1-16 this worthy organization is truly inspirational, and there is
1-17 little doubt that these three local heroes will one day achieve
1-18 their goal of raising one dollar for each of Laredo's 150,000
1-19 residents during the annual telethon; and
1-20 WHEREAS, The Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon has raised
1-21 millions of dollars to help find a cure for muscular dystrophy and
1-22 to ease the suffering of those who are afflicted with this disease,
1-23 and it is truly a privilege to honor Los Tres Amigos for the vital
1-24 role they have played in this humane endeavor; now, therefore, be
2-1 it
2-2 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
2-3 Legislature hereby pay tribute to Les Norton, Glen Jackson, and
2-4 Luis Lidsky and commend these fine gentlemen for their many years
2-5 of dedicated service to the citizens of Laredo and to the Muscular
2-6 Dystrophy Association; and, be it further
2-7 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
2-8 for Messrs. Norton, Jackson, and Lidsky as an expression of high
2-9 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
