                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to
 1-2     congratulate the Southside Reporter for consistently providing
 1-3     accurate and timely information to the residents of San Antonio;
 1-4     and
 1-5           WHEREAS, A respected institution in South San Antonio for 63
 1-6     years, the Southside Reporter is one of eight weekly newspapers
 1-7     published by Prime Time Newspapers; affectionately known as "the
 1-8     voice of the Southside," the award-winning newspaper has a
 1-9     circulation of 66,815 readers and reaches more than 123,000
1-10     households each year; and
1-11           WHEREAS, The Southside Reporter was awarded the Media School
1-12     Bell Award in April 1998 by the Texas State Teachers Association;
1-13     nominated for the accolade by the Harlandale Teachers' Association,
1-14     this distinguished publication was recognized for providing
1-15     extensive coverage of educational issues as well as family notices
1-16     and neighborhood resources; and
1-17           WHEREAS, Leadership and guidance are provided by Paul Davis,
1-18     publisher, and Theresa Raabe, managing editor; William A. Johnson
1-19     serves as president of Prime Time Newspapers; and
1-20           WHEREAS, The Southside Reporter is responsive to the
1-21     interests and needs of the unique southeast and southwest areas of
1-22     San Antonio, and it is indeed appropriate that this worthy
1-23     periodical be commended for its notable achievements; now,
1-24     therefore, be it
 2-1           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-2     Legislature hereby commend the Southside Reporter for 63 years of
 2-3     exceptional service to the citizens of San Antonio and extend
 2-4     sincere best wishes to its publisher, editor, staff, and carriers
 2-5     for continued success; and, be it further
 2-6           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-7     prepared for prominent display at the offices of the Southside
 2-8     Reporter as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of
 2-9     Representatives.
