R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, In an effort to fulfill society's needs, engineers
 1-2     have used their scientific and technical knowledge and skills in
 1-3     creative and innovative ways; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Engineers face the major technological challenges of
 1-5     our time, from rebuilding towns devastated by natural disasters to
 1-6     designing an information superhighway that will speed our country
 1-7     into the 21st century; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, Our young math and science students are being
 1-9     encouraged through the work of engineers to realize the practical
1-10     power of their knowledge; and
1-11           WHEREAS, In order to meet the challenges of the future we
1-12     will look more than ever to the knowledge and skills of engineers,
1-13     and we should honor them for their commitment to the advancement of
1-14     society; now, therefore, be it
1-15           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-16     Legislature hereby recognize February 21-27, 1999, as National
1-17     Engineers Week in Texas and extend best wishes to all engineers
1-18     throughout the State of Texas.
