R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Weatherford's RBR Construction, Inc., was recently
 1-2     selected as a winner of the Fort Worth Associated General
 1-3     Contractors' 1998 Outstanding Construction Project Award for its
 1-4     Brown County Santa Fe Depot project in Brownwood; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Competing in one of seven prescribed categories, RBR
 1-6     Construction's winning project involved the renovation and
 1-7     historical preservation of the Santa Fe Depot and Harvey House;
 1-8     built in 1909 at a cost of approximately $35,000, these buildings
 1-9     were of vital importance to the economic success of Brownwood and
1-10     its surrounding area for many years; and
1-11           WHEREAS, In addition to encouraging commerce, trade, and
1-12     population growth, the Santa Fe Depot and Harvey House represent a
1-13     significant contribution to the unique architectural dynamic of
1-14     Brownwood, and this notable project is crucial to preserving a key
1-15     historical aspect of this North Central Texas city; and
1-16           WHEREAS, The restoration of these historic buildings involved
1-17     a number of unusual construction techniques, including the
1-18     installation of roomtop HVAC units, the replacement of flooring
1-19     with marble slabs that perfectly match the original marble floor,
1-20     the restoration of canopies using circa 1910 rod and turnbuckle
1-21     construction, and the manufacture  of wood soffit brackets and
1-22     fascia molding to match the original woodwork; and
1-23           WHEREAS, The tremendous amount of time and energy involved in
1-24     the refurbishment of these historic buildings is indeed
 2-1     extraordinary, even when considered alone, but coupled with the
 2-2     outstanding workmanship and attention to detail that help to define
 2-3     this undertaking, the result is nothing short of inspirational;
 2-4     now, therefore, be it
 2-5           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-6     Legislature hereby congratulate the owners and employees of RBR
 2-7     Construction, Inc., on their receipt of a Fort Worth Association of
 2-8     General Contractors' 1998 Outstanding Construction Project Award;
 2-9     and, be it further
2-10           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-11     prepared for RBR Construction, Inc., as an expression of high
2-12     regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
