R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, On February 24, 1999, members of the Dallas Assembly
 1-2     will be visiting the State Capitol, and this outstanding
 1-3     organization is truly worthy of special recognition; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Formed in 1962, the Dallas Assembly provides a forum
 1-5     for leaders in business, education, government, religion, and other
 1-6     civic fields to discuss local, state, and national issues as they
 1-7     relate to Dallas and, through an interchange of ideas and positive
 1-8     dialogue, to work to improve the community; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, This prestigious organization is composed of 150
1-10     individuals ages 35 to 50 and represents a broad spectrum of the
1-11     Dallas citizenry, creating a richness and diversity of viewpoints
1-12     and contributions, as well as affording members the opportunity to
1-13     make valuable professional contacts and alliances; and
1-14           WHEREAS, The assembly's activities include monthly luncheons
1-15     with formal speakers, which have included past guests Margaret
1-16     Thatcher, Al Gore, Kay Bailey Hutchison, and John Silber; an annual
1-17     off-site seminar; informal meetings with discussions led by
1-18     assembly members; special events; and various other programs that
1-19     delve into community issues such as education, health care, and
1-20     revitalization of inner-city Dallas; and
1-21           WHEREAS, The members of the Dallas Assembly have
1-22     distinguished themselves as vital and valued civic leaders; their
1-23     participation in this truly thought-provoking and enriching
1-24     organization has greatly benefited the Dallas community, and it is
 2-1     indeed fitting to honor them at this time; now, therefore, be it
 2-2           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-3     Legislature hereby recognize the members of the Dallas Assembly for
 2-4     their many achievements and extend to them sincere best wishes for
 2-5     continued success and happiness; and, be it further
 2-6           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-7     prepared for the Dallas Assembly as an expression of high regard by
 2-8     the Texas House of Representatives.
