R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to pay
1-2 tribute to Collin County Justice of the Peace John A. Roller, Jr.,
1-3 who retired from his position on January 1, 1999, bringing to a
1-4 close a remarkable record of public service in behalf of the
1-5 citizens of the State of Texas; and
1-6 WHEREAS, Judge Roller served as Collin County Precinct 4
1-7 justice of the peace for 36 years, having been elected to nine
1-8 consecutive terms; and
1-9 WHEREAS, He started his position with no resources other than
1-10 a constable, and he worked from his home; through 3-1/2 decades
1-11 Judge Roller's leadership and vision have been instrumental in the
1-12 establishment of an efficient county organization that includes
1-13 five clerks, four constables, a courtroom, and a precinct that has
1-14 expanded to include all of fast-growing western Collin County; and
1-15 WHEREAS, Known for applying the law with precision and for
1-16 treating people with courtesy and respect, Judge Roller has
1-17 fulfilled the duties of his office with the utmost integrity and
1-18 distinction; now, therefore, be it
1-19 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-20 Legislature commend the Honorable John A. Roller, Jr., for his
1-21 consistent dedication to the pursuit of fairness and justice in his
1-22 court and extend to him sincere best wishes for a happy and
1-23 rewarding retirement; and, be it further
1-24 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-1 prepared for Judge Roller as an expression of high regard by the
2-2 Texas House of Representatives.
