                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
 1-2     Ty Murray for ascending to the pinnacle of success in the difficult
 1-3     and demanding sport of rodeo; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Born October 11, 1969, Mr. Murray attended Odessa
 1-5     College and is currently a resident of Erath County; this amazing
 1-6     athlete earned bareback riding rookie of the year honors in 1988
 1-7     and joined the professional rodeo circuit the following year; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, Mr. Murray is a fierce competitor in the bareback
 1-9     riding, saddle bronc riding, and bull riding events; in addition to
1-10     being named the 1993 World Champion Bull Rider, he has earned the
1-11     title of World Champion All-Around Cowboy each year from 1989
1-12     through 1994 and again in 1998, and his seven championships are
1-13     unsurpassed in the history of rodeo; and
1-14           WHEREAS, In 1993 he also broke a record when he became the
1-15     youngest cowboy millionaire at the age of 23, and he is the only
1-16     person whose PRCA earnings for one year have topped $200,000, a
1-17     feat he has accomplished five times; and
1-18           WHEREAS, Truly the "King of the Cowboys," Ty Murray has
1-19     achieved unprecedented dominance in a field of endeavor that
1-20     demands strength, endurance, and determination to achieve success,
1-21     and it is indeed appropriate that he be honored at this time; now,
1-22     therefore, be it
1-23           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-24     Legislature hereby pay tribute to Ty Murray for his remarkable
 2-1     achievements in the sport of rodeo and extend to him sincere best
 2-2     wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 2-3           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-4     prepared for Mr. Murray as an expression of high regard by the
 2-5     Texas House of Representatives.
