                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
 1-2     Derek Davis Taylor of BSA Troop 604 in Houston on attaining the
 1-3     rank of Eagle Scout; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Receiving the Eagle Scout badge is an extremely rare
 1-5     honor, bestowed on only a fraction of those who enter the scouting
 1-6     movement, and by meeting the rank's demanding criteria, Mr. Taylor
 1-7     has achieved a truly remarkable feat; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, The son of Darrell and Cheree' Taylor, this
 1-9     exemplary young man has demonstrated outstanding leadership as
1-10     assistant senior patrol leader in Troop 604; he is also a member of
1-11     the Order of the Arrow and received the Golden Hammer Award for his
1-12     Eagle Scout project; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor is a sophomore in high school who hopes
1-14     to pursue a career in law enforcement; currently holding the rank
1-15     of Cadet Sergeant in Junior ROTC, he is also a member of the rifle
1-16     team; and
1-17           WHEREAS, While a freshman, he attained the distinction of
1-18     being the only student from the Houston ISD ROTC program to receive
1-19     The Good Citizenship Award by the National Society of the Daughters
1-20     of the American Revolution; and
1-21           WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Taylor will be awarded his silver
1-22     insignia and take his place among scouting's elite at a traditional
1-23     ceremony to be held on April 17, 1999, at St. Stephen's United
1-24     Methodist Church in Houston, and it is appropriate that he be given
 2-1     special recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it
 2-2           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-3     Legislature hereby congratulate Derek Davis Taylor on attaining the
 2-4     rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best wishes for
 2-5     continued success in the future; and, be it further
 2-6           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-7     prepared for Mr. Taylor as an expression of high regard by the
 2-8     Texas House of Representatives.
