R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 Leighanne Nicole Sanders of Leander, an outstanding young Texan who 1-3 exemplifies the finest qualities of youth today; and 1-4 WHEREAS, One event in particular demonstrates the courage and 1-5 determination possessed by this admirable young lady: at only seven 1-6 years of age, Leighanne saved the life of her great-grandmother, 1-7 who had fallen and been critically injured; with great bravery and 1-8 clarity of thought she aided the stricken woman by calling 9-1-1 1-9 and cared for her younger brother until help arrived; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Leighanne is now in the fourth grade at Cypress 1-11 Elementary School in Leander, and she has expressed an early 1-12 interest in learning about state government; to that end, she will 1-13 serve as an honorary page in the house of representatives this 1-14 session; and 1-15 WHEREAS, She has been an active member of the Girl Scouts for 1-16 several years and is currently a junior scout; she has also been 1-17 involved in gymnastics for four years, and her interest and ability 1-18 in extracurricular activities is notable; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Leighanne is a source of great pride for her family, 1-20 including her parents, Scott and Judith Sanders, her brother, 1-21 Devin, and her great-grandmother, Byrdeen Hoover; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Leighanne may indeed look forward to a future bright 1-23 with promise, and she is most deserving of special legislative 1-24 recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-2 Legislature hereby honor Leighanne Nicole Sanders and extend to her 2-3 warmest best wishes for great success and happiness in the years 2-4 ahead; and, be it further 2-5 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-6 prepared for Miss Sanders as an expression of high regard by the 2-7 Texas House of Representatives.
