R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
1-2 Dr. Ziad R. Haydar for his participation in the "Doctor of the
1-3 Day" program; and
1-4 WHEREAS, Each day of a regular or special session of the
1-5 legislature, a volunteer physician is on call at the Capitol First
1-6 Aid Station to provide medical assistance should it be needed; and
1-7 WHEREAS, Currently on the staff of Baylor University Medical
1-8 Center, Dr. Haydar holds the positions of assistant chief of
1-9 geriatrics and director of the Baylor Elder Housecall Program; and
1-10 WHEREAS, Dr. Haydar has been recognized for his outstanding
1-11 achievements in the field of medicine with such prestigious
1-12 accolades as the Excellence in Research Award from the committee on
1-13 research of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Penrose
1-14 Award for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences from American University
1-15 of Beirut, and the Resident Teacher Award from the Society of
1-16 Teachers of Family Medicine; and
1-17 WHEREAS, Despite his demanding schedule, this fine gentleman
1-18 has graciously volunteered to serve as doctor of the day for the
1-19 members of this chamber on March 25, 1999, and it is a privilege to
1-20 recognize him at this time; now, therefore, be it
1-21 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-22 Legislature hereby honor Dr. Ziad R. Haydar for his outstanding
1-23 contributions to the medical profession and commend him for his
1-24 admirable service to the house as "Doctor of the Day"; and, be it
2-1 further
2-2 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-3 prepared for Dr. Haydar as an expression of high regard by the
2-4 Texas House of Representatives.
