R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, Gary Bean has served the citizens of Burkburnett as
1-2 city manager for the past 33 years and, on the occasion of his
1-3 retirement, it is indeed appropriate to recognize him for his
1-4 exceptional service; and
1-5 WHEREAS, A native of Burkburnett, Mr. Bean attended Texas
1-6 Tech University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in finance;
1-7 he and his wife, Barbara, have been married for 38 years and have
1-8 been blessed with two sons, Bryan and Bruce; and
1-9 WHEREAS, He began his career as city manager of Burkburnett
1-10 in 1966, and his dedication to the development of the city has
1-11 garnered great advances for its citizens; Mr. Bean was instrumental
1-12 in the completion of the sewer plant project, the community center,
1-13 the library, and the golf course and in the passage of a referendum
1-14 for a sales tax pledged to economic development; and
1-15 WHEREAS, This noteworthy gentleman has the proud distinction
1-16 of being the Lone Star State's longest-tenured city manager, and
1-17 this is a clear confirmation of his commitment to the people of his
1-18 hometown; and
1-19 WHEREAS, Looking forward to a retirement when he can play
1-20 golf, raise his horses, and fish, Mr. Bean leaves a legacy of
1-21 success and excellence for the citizens of Burkburnett, and
1-22 although his wisdom, energy, and astute leadership will be missed
1-23 by his colleagues, his many years of dutiful service will not soon
1-24 be forgotten; now, therefore, be it
2-1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
2-2 Legislature hereby commend Gary Bean for his outstanding tenure as
2-3 Burkburnett city manager and extend to him sincere best wishes for
2-4 many years of continued happiness in his retirement; and, be it
2-5 further
2-6 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-7 prepared for Mr. Bean as an expression of high regard by the Texas
2-8 House of Representatives.
