                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans
 1-2     who have remained devoted to each other for 50 memorable years is
 1-3     indeed an occasion worthy of special recognition; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Jack and Bettie Schuler celebrated their wedding
 1-5     anniversary on January 23, 1999, with a reception in the parlor of
 1-6     Crestview Baptist Church; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, On January 16, 1949, Jack Schuler and the former
 1-8     Bettie Ann Smith were united in matrimony in the First Presbyterian
 1-9     Church of Fort Worth, and through the years they have shared an
1-10     enduring relationship based on love and respect for one another;
1-11     and
1-12           WHEREAS, In 1951 the couple moved to Midland, where
1-13     Mr. Schuler worked for the U.S. Postal Service until his
1-14     retirement; Mrs. Schuler has been a loving companion to her husband
1-15     and a caring mother to the couple's two children, Roger and Nathan
1-16     Dale Schuler; and
1-17           WHEREAS, After half a century of marriage, Mr. and
1-18     Mrs. Schuler still cherish their time together and enjoy being
1-19     members of Crestview Baptist Church and the West Side Lions Club;
1-20     their remarkable union has produced a fine family and many joyous
1-21     memories, and it is fitting that they be honored at this time; now,
1-22     therefore, be it
1-23           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-24     Legislature hereby congratulate Jack and Bettie Schuler on the
 2-1     occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them
 2-2     sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it
 2-3     further
 2-4           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-5     prepared  for Mr. and Mrs. Schuler as an expression of high regard
 2-6     by the Texas House of Representatives.
