                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to
 1-2     recognize Anne Gibson Huddleston, who is the outgoing president of
 1-3     the Comanche Peak Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas
 1-4     (DRT) in Granbury; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Through her careful guidance the Comanche Peak
 1-6     Chapter has received DRT awards for Texas history, achievement,
 1-7     attendance, membership, and volunteer hours and has been awarded
 1-8     the President General's project award and the Gold Award of Merit;
 1-9     and
1-10           WHEREAS, A former historian and vice president of her
1-11     chapter, this diligent woman has worked to preserve the history of
1-12     her community and state as a member of the board for Hood County
1-13     Museum and by maintaining the archives of the DRT Comanche Peak
1-14     Chapter; in addition, she presents local history programs to civic
1-15     organizations and schools; and
1-16           WHEREAS, Believing in the importance of Texas History
1-17     education, Ms. Huddleston sponsored the Comanche Peak Chapter DRT
1-18     Texas History Essay contests for students in the fourth and seventh
1-19     grades; she also encouraged Junior Historians to observe Texas
1-20     Independence Day with a "Toast to Texas" at the flagpole; and
1-21           WHEREAS, Ms. Huddleston has shown unwavering support for the
1-22     State of Texas and has worked with dedication to maintain the great
1-23     traditions of the Lone Star State, and it is a privilege to join
1-24     her colleagues in honoring her on this occasion; now, therefore, be
 2-1     it
 2-2           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-3     Legislature hereby commend Anne Gibson Huddleston for her tenure as
 2-4     the president of the Comanche Peak Chapter of the Daughters of the
 2-5     Republic of Texas in Granbury and extend to her best wishes for
 2-6     continued success and happiness; and, be it further
 2-7           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-8     prepared for Ms. Huddleston as an expression of high regard by the
 2-9     Texas House of Representatives.
