R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The family and many friends of Brooke Baird were
1-2 greatly saddened by her untimely passing on June 1, 1998, at the
1-3 age of 22, and we join them in mourning the loss of this wonderful
1-4 young woman; and
1-5 WHEREAS, A native Texan, Ms. Baird was born in Arlington on
1-6 November 3, 1975; she graduated from Trinity Christian Academy and
1-7 was a senior and psychology major at TCU; Ms. Baird was a
1-8 well-liked student and a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and
1-9 Psi Chi National Honor Society in psychology and was on the Dean's
1-10 List; and
1-11 WHEREAS, This beloved woman is remembered for her kind and
1-12 generous spirit and for the way she readily helped strangers in
1-13 need; those who knew her cherished her enthusiasm and love for life
1-14 and the energy that led her to become her high school's football
1-15 mascot; and
1-16 WHEREAS, Brooke Baird was a young woman of integrity,
1-17 compassion, and generosity whose laughter and lively spirit
1-18 continue to be missed by the many people whose lives she touched,
1-19 and it is indeed a privilege to remember her at this time; now,
1-20 therefore, be it
1-21 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-22 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Brooke Baird and
1-23 extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
1-24 parents, Thom and Kay Baird; to her brother, Thom Baird, Jr.; to
2-1 her nephew, Stephen Baird; to her grandfather, Walter Baird; to her
2-2 special friend, Jason Chase; and to the many other family members
2-3 and friends of this esteemed woman; and, be it further
2-4 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-5 prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas
2-6 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
2-7 Brooke Baird.
