                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, On March 11, 1999, Clyde Winford West celebrates his
 1-2     90th birthday, and this memorable milestone is indeed deserving of
 1-3     special recognition; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Born in Centralia, Mr. West was educated in the
 1-5     Groveton public schools; on December 23, 1933, he married the
 1-6     former Dema Hester Moore, with whom he has enjoyed 65 years of
 1-7     marriage and lovingly raised four children, Betty Lamb, Quincy
 1-8     James, David West, and Dean West; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, A carpenter by trade, Mr. West worked in the Houston
1-10     shipyards and built churches around Pasadena; Jones Hall, located
1-11     in the theater district of Houston, was the largest structure he
1-12     helped build during his career; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Mr. West is a devoted member of First Baptist Church
1-14     in Pasadena, where he is a deacon and serves as a host at the men's
1-15     Bible Luncheon on Tuesdays; he also maintains membership with the
1-16     Pasadena Kiwanis Club and regularly attends Pasadena City Council
1-17     meetings; and
1-18           WHEREAS, The beloved grandfather of 12, great-grandfather of
1-19     22, and great-great-grandfather of three, Mr. West has long devoted
1-20     himself to his family, as well as to his church and his community;
1-21     in doing so he has touched the lives of many people, and it is
1-22     truly appropriate that he be honored at this time; now, therefore,
1-23     be it
1-24           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-1     Legislature hereby honor Clyde Winford West on the occasion of his
 2-2     90th birthday and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
 2-3     health and happiness; and, be it further
 2-4           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-5     prepared for Mr. West as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 2-6     House of Representatives.
