R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The passing of James Harrison "Jim" Cowman, Jr., on
 1-2     February 22, 1999, has greatly saddened the family and many friends
 1-3     of this fine man; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Mr. Cowman was born on September 19, 1916, in Long
 1-5     Beach, California, and was a World War II veteran who served in the
 1-6     U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, This beloved gentleman was a caring husband to his
 1-8     wife of 42 years, Lila Omalee Hudson Cowman, and their large family
 1-9     was a great source of joy for him; and
1-10           WHEREAS, An outstanding Austinite, Mr. Cowman was a member of
1-11     several civic groups, including the Masons, the Shriners, the
1-12     Optimists, and the Toastmasters; he was also a devoted Christian
1-13     and a member of the Methodist church; and
1-14           WHEREAS, Jim Cowman, Jr., was a man of integrity and
1-15     optimism, and although his guidance and lively spirit will be
1-16     deeply missed by all who knew him, his memory will surely live on
1-17     in the hearts and minds of the many people whose lives he touched;
1-18     now, therefore, be it
1-19           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-20     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of James Harrison "Jim"
1-21     Cowman, Jr., and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his
1-22     family: to his wife, Lila Omalee Cowman; to his sons, James
1-23     Harrison Cowman III, William Carl Cowman, James William Cowman,
1-24     John David Cowman, and Jordan Wade Cowman; to his daughter, Janis
 2-1     Lee Cowman; to his grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeffery, Jason, James
 2-2     Kristopher, Justin William, Christine Marie, Casey Lee, Carey Lynn,
 2-3     Megan Elizabeth, Victoria Madison, and Connor Elizabeth Cowman,
 2-4     Eric David Patarak, Kathleen Elizabeth Suitts, and Jody Elmer; to
 2-5     his great-grandchild, Korin Suitts; to his sisters, Marjorie
 2-6     Virginia Cowman Ringness and Evelyn Jean Cowman O'Brien; and to his
 2-7     many other relatives and friends; and, be it further
 2-8           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-9     prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
2-10     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
2-11     James Harrison Cowman, Jr.
