R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Bill Wade on December 16, 1998, at
1-2 the age of 76, brought a great loss to the family and friends of
1-3 this esteemed Parker resident; and
1-4 WHEREAS, Mr. Wade was born in Sardis, Oklahoma, on June 13,
1-5 1922, and honorably served his country as a member of the U.S.
1-6 Coast Guard during World War II; and
1-7 WHEREAS, He played a vital role in the development of Parker
1-8 as a member of the city council for 25 years and as mayor, a
1-9 position to which he was appointed in February 1998 and elected in
1-10 May 1998; he was well known for his dedication to the city and was
1-11 one of its first volunteer firefighters; and
1-12 WHEREAS, An auctioneer by vocation, Mr. Wade was past
1-13 president of the Texas Auctioneers Association and one of the
1-14 founders of the Texas Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame; and
1-15 WHEREAS, Preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne, Mr. Wade was
1-16 a friend to many people in Parker, and though his presence and
1-17 guidance will long be missed, he will surely be remembered with
1-18 great affection and admiration for many years to come; now,
1-19 therefore, be it
1-20 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-21 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Bill Wade and extend
1-22 sincere sympathy to the members of his family and to the many
1-23 friends of this respected gentleman; and, be it further
1-24 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-1 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
2-2 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
2-3 Bill Wade.
