R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The 4-H Program of the Texas Agricultural Extension
 1-2     Service is one of the state's premier youth organizations, and the
 1-3     4-H Program members from Henderson County are among the most active
 1-4     participants in this worthy venture; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, The largest youth organization in the nation, the
 1-6     4-H Program has as its motto, "To Make the Best Better," and
 1-7     although it is primarily associated with fostering agricultural
 1-8     skills, the program also promotes projects in the areas of consumer
 1-9     life skills, leadership, food and nutrition, photography, and
1-10     natural resources; and
1-11           WHEREAS, In recent years between 10 and 15 percent of all
1-12     Texas youth between the ages of five and 19 have annually been
1-13     enrolled as 4-H members or 4-H Clover Kids and the program has
1-14     encouraged these young Texans to undertake interesting initiatives
1-15     and activities, as well as make friends and learn responsibility;
1-16     and
1-17           WHEREAS, The 300 members and 68 volunteers of the Henderson
1-18     County 4-H Program participate in projects at the county, district,
1-19     state, and national levels and also devote their time and talents
1-20     to a variety of competitions; and
1-21           WHEREAS, Motivating youth in a productive manner is vital to
1-22     creating a brighter future for all Texans; the 4-H Program of
1-23     Henderson County has achieved outstanding success in this regard,
1-24     and it is truly appropriate that this organization be honored at
 2-1     this time; now, therefore, be it
 2-2           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-3     Legislature hereby commend the 4-H Program of Henderson County and
 2-4     extend a warm welcome to its members on the occasion of their visit
 2-5     to the State Capitol; and, be it further
 2-6           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-7     prepared for the members of the 4-H Program of Henderson County as
 2-8     an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
