No. 393 76R5611 MDM-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Helen Rasco of Odessa on January 31, 1-2 1999, at the age of 89, has brought a great loss to the many 1-3 friends and relatives of this fine woman; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A native of Georgia, Mrs. Rasco was born on June 2, 1-5 1909, in Columbus; she pursued her higher education at the 1-6 University of Georgia and also attended the Chase Conservatory of 1-7 Music; and 1-8 WHEREAS, She married John Rasco on November 11, 1932, in 1-9 Birmingham, Alabama, enjoying a union that was built on a 1-10 foundation of mutual love, trust, and respect; these values 1-11 fostered a warm and caring environment that nurtured their family 1-12 over the years and together they were blessed with a daughter, 1-13 three grandsons, and four great-granddaughters; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Mrs. Rasco loved music and was an accomplished 1-15 pianist; she performed in churches where her husband pastored 1-16 throughout Alabama, Kentucky, Florida, and Texas; the couple made 1-17 their home in Odessa in 1954, and Mrs. Rasco was an active member 1-18 of the Odessa Study Club and the First Baptist Church of Odessa, 1-19 where her husband was Pastor Emeritus; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to share the friendship of 1-21 Mrs. Rasco will long miss her presence, and she will surely be 1-22 remembered with great affection and admiration for many years to 1-23 come; now, therefore, be it 1-24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-1 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Helen Rasco and 2-2 extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family: to her 2-3 husband, the Reverend Dr. John S. Rasco; to her daughter, Helen 2-4 Audrey Rasco Chartier; to her grandsons, Kevin Chartier, Michael 2-5 Chartier, and John Chartier and his wife, Rachel; to her 2-6 great-granddaughters, Christi and Toni Chartier, and their mother, 2-7 Sherri, and Emily and Elizabeth Bernat; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-9 prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas 2-10 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-11 Helen Rasco.
