R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Herbert Fick on February 6, 1999, at 1-2 the age of 75, has brought a great loss to the family and many 1-3 friends of this esteemed gentleman; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Mr. Fick was born on September 19, 1923, in Cushing, 1-5 Oklahoma, the son of Louis and Elsa Fick; after graduating from 1-6 high school in Cushing, Mr. Fick entered the United States Army 1-7 and served with distinction in England with the Eighth Air Force 1-8 First Division, 398th Bomb Group, as an engineer/gunner; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Following his honorable discharge, he returned home 1-10 and moved to Odessa, where he married Jacquetta Palmer on July 6, 1-11 1946; Mr. Fick accepted a position with the Atlantic Richfield 1-12 Company that same year, and when he retired in 1986 as a field 1-13 supervisor, he brought to a close a distinguished 40-year tenure 1-14 with the company; and 1-15 WHEREAS, The couple was blessed with five children, Bonnie, 1-16 Debra, Michael, Duane, and Gary, and the family's years together 1-17 were indeed happy ones, filled with much love and many joyful 1-18 memories; and 1-19 WHEREAS, After retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Fick moved to Lake 1-20 Leon, and he especially enjoyed fishing, traveling, and playing 1-21 cards with their children and grandchildren; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Though Herbert Fick will long be missed, his spirit 1-23 will surely live on in the hearts and memories of all those whose 1-24 lives he touched, and it is indeed fitting to honor his memory at 2-1 this time; now, therefore, be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-3 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Herbert A. Fick and 2-4 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his 2-5 beloved wife, Jacquetta Fick; to his children, Bonnie J. McQueen, 2-6 Debra Jean Walls, Michael Norbin Fick, Duane Robert Fick, and Gary 2-7 Herbert Fick; to his brothers, Edwin Fick, Henry Fick, and Melvin 2-8 Fick; to his sisters, Emma Macuila and Louise Nolan; to his five 2-9 grandchildren and five step-grandchildren; and to his nieces and 2-10 nephews; and, be it further 2-11 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-12 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-13 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-14 Herbert A.
