R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The family and many friends of Robert Cauthorn, Jr.,
 1-2     were greatly saddened by his passing on October 27, 1997, and we
 1-3     join them in paying tribute to his life and work; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mr. Cauthorn was born November 29,
 1-5     1914, in Snyder, to Robert and Virginia Justice Cauthorn, and made
 1-6     his home in the Lone Star State throughout his long and successful
 1-7     career as a rancher; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, He drew great joy and inspiration from his wife of
 1-9     62 years, Alice Overstreet Cauthorn; theirs was a relationship that
1-10     continued to grow in mutual respect, affection, and admiration
1-11     until his passing, and they took pride in their large and loving
1-12     family; and
1-13           WHEREAS, A vital and valued member of the community,
1-14     Mr. Cauthorn lent his time and energies to a number of worthwhile
1-15     endeavors, serving as a Val Verde County commissioner and as a
1-16     member of the Del Rio and Juno school boards; in addition, he was a
1-17     director of the Val Verde County Race Association; and
1-18           WHEREAS, His financial acumen was instrumental in the success
1-19     of a number of businesses, and he served as director of the Del Rio
1-20     TV Cable Company and the president of the Coca-Cola Bottling
1-21     Company of Del Rio and San Marcos as well as serving as vice
1-22     president and director of Texas Osage Royalty Pool, Inc.; and
1-23           WHEREAS, Over the course of his lifetime, Robert Cauthorn,
1-24     Jr., distinguished himself as a businessman of ability and
 2-1     integrity, an integral asset to his community, and a devoted family
 2-2     man; though he will be greatly missed, his spirit will live on in
 2-3     the hearts of all those fortunate enough to have known him; now,
 2-4     therefore, be it
 2-5           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-6     Legislature hereby honor the memory of Robert Cauthorn, Jr., and
 2-7     extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
 2-8     Alice Overstreet Cauthorn, to his daughter and son-in-law, Junior
 2-9     and Ed Esquivel; to his sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Ann
2-10     Cauthorn and Bill and Kay Cauthorn; to his grandchildren and their
2-11     spouses, James and Jenny Esquivel, Sandi Esquivel, Audrey and John
2-12     Schmit, Todd Cauthorn, Kate Cauthorn, Sid and Kim Cauthorn, and Guy
2-13     and Keri Cauthorn; to his great-grandchildren, Drew and Sidney
2-14     Cauthorn and Abb and Hattie Cauthorn; to his brother, Virgil
2-15     Cauthorn; to his cousins, Mac Ward, Ora Riggs, Blanche Smith, and
2-16     Jim Bob Altizer; and to his other relatives; and, be it further
2-17           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-18     prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
2-19     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
2-20     Robert Cauthorn, Jr.
