No. 414 76R9435 JBR-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that the Texas House of 1-2 Representatives recognizes Laura Marie Eaton of Houston for her 1-3 myriad accomplishments; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Born January 27, 1981, Ms. Eaton is currently a 1-5 senior at the High School for Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice, 1-6 where she is ranked sixth out of 188 students and maintains a 3.7 1-7 grade point average; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Ms. Eaton's involvement in clubs and organizations 1-9 includes her role as president of the Law Legal Chapter of the 1-10 National Honor Society and her former position as president of the 1-11 Business Professionals of America; she is also a member of Youth 1-12 and Government and was honored as speaker of the house during this 1-13 year's competition; and 1-14 WHEREAS, This exceptional young woman spends part of her week 1-15 fulfilling her duties at Baker & Botts, L.L.P., where she works in 1-16 the records management department retrieving files, answering 1-17 phones, updating court papers, and closing settled cases; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Active in extracurricular activities, Ms. Eaton is a 1-19 strong competitor in tennis and enjoys swimming and aerobics; in 1-20 addition, she generously donates her free time to various 1-21 organizations, including Genny's Learning Tree Academy, the Homer 1-22 Ford Tennis Center, and the CHATT AIDS Hotline; and 1-23 WHEREAS, Ms. Eaton is devoted to her mother, Delores Jones 1-24 Eaton, whom she credits with being a strong positive influence in 2-1 her life; Ms. Eaton plans to attend either Louisiana State 2-2 University or Florida A&M University to study accounting and 2-3 management information systems; and 2-4 WHEREAS, Laura Marie Eaton is a remarkable young woman who 2-5 has demonstrated exemplary dedication in the pursuit of her 2-6 education; her energy, enthusiasm, and determination typify the 2-7 finest qualities of our state's young people, and she is indeed 2-8 deserving of legislative commendation for her outstanding 2-9 achievements; now, therefore, be it 2-10 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-11 Legislature hereby commend Laura Marie Eaton for her many 2-12 accomplishments and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued 2-13 success and happiness in all her future endeavors; and, be it 2-14 further 2-15 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-16 prepared for Ms. Eaton as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-17 House of Representatives.
