R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to
 1-2     welcome members of Texas Citizens for a Sound Economy (CSE) to the
 1-3     State Capitol on this day; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, The national organization, Citizens for a Sound
 1-5     Economy, was founded in 1984 and counts 250,000 informed, active
 1-6     taxpayers among its membership who seek to achieve the common goals
 1-7     of limited government, lower taxes, and fewer regulations; to that
 1-8     end, the organization focuses on researching, analyzing, and
 1-9     disseminating information on economic policy that is stated in
1-10     straightforward terms; and
1-11           WHEREAS, The  state affiliate of the national organization,
1-12     Texas Citizens for a Sound Economy, represents approximately 25,000
1-13     Texans who support lower taxes as well as regulatory and tort
1-14     reform with the goal of making the Lone Star State an even better
1-15     place in which to live and conduct business; and
1-16           WHEREAS, Members of this grassroots coalition make their
1-17     views known and offer solutions to challenges facing our country
1-18     today by engaging policymakers and other citizens in policy debates
1-19     and by hosting informative briefings and town hall meetings; and
1-20           WHEREAS, CSE also strives to educate and mobilize consumers
1-21     through  appearances on radio and television programs and by
1-22     sponsoring advertising to promote its message; the organizaiton
1-23     works closely with its individual members, as well as activists and
1-24     community leaders, to guarantee their opinions will be known in
 2-1     Washington and in their state capitals; and
 2-2           WHEREAS, In addition, the association's educational
 2-3     affiliate, CSE Foundation, monitors the appropriations process and
 2-4     consistently urges Congress to reduce federal spending; and
 2-5           WHEREAS, Texas Citizens for a Sound Economy encourages all
 2-6     taxpayers to make their voices heard, and  the organization is
 2-7     indeed deserving of special recognition at this time; now,
 2-8     therefore, be it
 2-9           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
2-10     Legislature hereby recognize March 17, 1999, as Citizens for a
2-11     Sound Economy Day at the State Capitol and extend to the
2-12     organization's visiting delegation best wishes for an informative
2-13     and memorable visit.
