                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to
 1-2     congratulate Bryan High School senior Misty Munoz on her acceptance
 1-3     into the  United States Military Academy at West Point; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Nominated by President Bill Clinton, this
 1-5     exceptional young leader will be the first woman from Brazos County
 1-6     to attend the prestigious institution; following her graduation as
 1-7     a cadet in the class of 2003, she plans to attend law school and
 1-8     join the military's Judge Advocate General Corps; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Ms. Munoz excels academically and athletically and
1-10     also contributes to her community while remaining focused on her
1-11     primary goal of military service; ranked in the top 10 percent of
1-12     her class, she was honored for academic accomplishments in 1996,
1-13     1997, and 1998, and has consistently achieved honor roll status
1-14     since elementary school; and
1-15           WHEREAS, In addition to her academic achievements, Ms. Munoz
1-16     also is an accomplished athlete, earning a listing in the 1998
1-17     edition of Who's Who in High School All-Star Sports for her
1-18     softball achievements; she is a member of the 1998 All-District and
1-19     1998 All-Brazos Valley softball teams, winning the 1998 Bryan High
1-20     School "Big Stick" Award as the Lady Vikings leading hitter, and
1-21     received the 1998 Most Valuable Player Award at the Texas A&M
1-22     Softball Camp; and
1-23           WHEREAS, A recipient of the Daughters of the American
1-24     Revolution Academic Award, Ms. Munoz has been a member of  the
 2-1     student council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Honor
 2-2     Society, and the National Vocational-Technical Honor Society; and
 2-3           WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan exemplifies dedication,
 2-4     leadership, and self-discipline in pursuit of her goals; she stands
 2-5     at the threshold of a future bright with promise,  and it is a
 2-6     privilege to honor her at this time; now, therefore, be it
 2-7           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-8     Legislature hereby congratulate Misty Munoz on her acceptance into
 2-9     the United States Military Academy at West Point and extend to her
2-10     warmest best wishes for many more years of success; and, be it
2-11     further
2-12           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-13     prepared for Ms. Munoz as an expression of high regard by the Texas
2-14     House of Representatives.
