R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to join
 1-2     the family and friends of Geoffrey Alan Knapp of Houston in
 1-3     congratulating this outstanding young man on attaining the rank of
 1-4     Eagle Scout; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Mr. Knapp's accomplishments will be duly recognized
 1-6     during an Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony on March 20, 1999, at
 1-7     the Heights Presbyterian Church in Houston; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, A junior in high school, Eagle Scout Knapp was a
 1-9     first grader when he began his career in scouting as a Tiger Cub,
1-10     progressing to earn the highest award offered in Cub Scouting, the
1-11     Arrow of Light; and
1-12           WHEREAS, Mr. Knapp is currently a member of Boy Scout Troop
1-13     924, which he joined in 1993, and he has ably served his troop in
1-14     many positions of authority, including patrol leader, senior patrol
1-15     leader, and junior assistant scoutmaster; he has further earned 39
1-16     merit badges and ascended through all six ranks of the
1-17     organization, culminating with the Eagle Scout designation, which
1-18     he achieved in September 1998; and
1-19           WHEREAS, Nominated by his peers to the Order of the Arrow, a
1-20     service organization, the 16-year-old currently serves as chapter
1-21     chief and crews on the Sea Scout Ship 720, where he has earned his
1-22     first rank of apprentice; in addition, after 18 months of study and
1-23     service, Mr. Knapp has recently been presented with his God and
1-24     Life Religious Award; and
 2-1           WHEREAS, Geoffrey Alan Knapp's commitment to his family, his
 2-2     church, and his community is truly an inspiration to all who know
 2-3     him, and he is indeed worthy of special recognition at this time;
 2-4     now, therefore, be it
 2-5           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-6     Legislature hereby commend Geoffrey Alan Knapp for exemplifying the
 2-7     qualities of dedication, leadership, and integrity in attaining the
 2-8     rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best wishes for many
 2-9     more years of success and happiness; and, be it further
2-10           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-11     prepared for Mr. Knapp as an expression of high regard by the Texas
2-12     House of Representatives.
