R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Child Development Center at Temple Beth Israel
 1-2     in Austin will commemorate its first decade of service on April 11,
 1-3     1999, and it is fitting that the members of this chamber recognize
 1-4     this worthy program as it observes this important milestone; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, The Child Development Center offers an excellent
 1-6     curriculum that is responsive to each child's individual needs,
 1-7     personality, and cultural background while furthering their social,
 1-8     cognitive, emotional, physical, and spiritual advancement; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Since its founding in 1989, the center has made
1-10     significant contributions to the well-being and growth of its young
1-11     charges, who range in age from 8 weeks to 5 years; and
1-12           WHEREAS, The program maintains high standards of quality and
1-13     is accredited by the National Association for Education of Young
1-14     Children and licensed by the Texas Department of Protective and
1-15     Regulatory Services; in order to stay apprised of current
1-16     developments in child care, staff members attend annual training
1-17     classes in early childhood issues; and
1-18           WHEREAS, Participating children enjoy a rich education in
1-19     Jewish customs, ceremonies, values, and holidays through stories,
1-20     cooking, music, and craft experiences, as well as an area called
1-21     Dolly's Playground, an interactive playground which has gained
1-22     citywide recognition; and
1-23           WHEREAS, To truly experience giving and sharing with others,
1-24     the children collect money and donate it to such worthy community
 2-1     projects as fans for the elderly, assistance for flood and tornado
 2-2     victims, food banks, battered women's shelters, and Toys for Tots;
 2-3     they also share their artwork with Temple projects of the Caring
 2-4     Community Committee; and
 2-5           WHEREAS, Parents are involved in all aspects of this
 2-6     excellent program and, along with the caring director and staff,
 2-7     are dedicated to achieving the best education possible for their
 2-8     young children; a committee of parents functions as the center's
 2-9     board of directors, meeting monthly and setting policy; and
2-10           WHEREAS, For the past decade, the Child Development Center at
2-11     Temple Beth Israel has provided children with a loving, positive
2-12     atmosphere in which to learn, grow, and be cherished, and it is
2-13     most appropriate that the organization be honored at this time;
2-14     now, therefore, be it
2-15           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
2-16     Legislature hereby commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Child
2-17     Development Center at Temple Beth Israel and extend to the
2-18     organization's board members, staff, volunteers, and students
2-19     warmest best wishes for many more years of continued success; and,
2-20     be it further
2-21           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-22     prepared for the Child Development Center at Temple Beth Israel as
2-23     an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
