R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to pay
 1-2     tribute to William M. Key for his longtime service to First State
 1-3     Bank and to the citizens of Athens; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Born on January 11, 1935, Mr. Key graduated from San
 1-5     Angelo High School in 1951 and continued his pursuit of academic
 1-6     excellence at Texas Tech University, where he earned a bachelor of
 1-7     business administration degree in finance in 1957; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, Mr. Key and the former Marian Taylor were united in
 1-9     matrimony in June 1956, and have enjoyed a close and happy
1-10     relationship; the couple are blessed with two sons, William Milton
1-11     Key, Jr., and Robert Taylor Key; and
1-12           WHEREAS, A respected Athens businessman, Mr. Key has enjoyed
1-13     a productive association with First State Bank for nearly three
1-14     decades; named a director in 1970, he has guided the financial
1-15     institution as president since 1981, and has also distinguished
1-16     himself as chairman of the board for the past two years; and
1-17           WHEREAS, Before embarking on his banking career, this
1-18     esteemed gentleman met with success in other fields of endeavor,
1-19     including financial management, as the owner of an automobile
1-20     dealership, and as a rancher in Texas and Colorado; and
1-21           WHEREAS, Mr. Key contributes to the betterment of his
1-22     community and profession by devoting his time and talents to many
1-23     worthy organizations and his efforts in this regard are truly
1-24     exemplary; he serves as a director of the Henderson County Hospital
 2-1     Authority, East Texas Mental Health/Mental Retardation, Trinity
 2-2     River Authority, and Texas Bankers Association; and
 2-3           WHEREAS, Mr. Key's outstanding service with First State Bank
 2-4     has played a vital role in contributing to the vitality and growth
 2-5     of the local economy, and he is most deserving of special
 2-6     recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it
 2-7           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-8     Legislature hereby commend William M. Key for his notable
 2-9     commitment to the Athens community and extend to him sincere best
2-10     wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
2-11           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-12     prepared for Mr. Key as an expression of high regard by the Texas
2-13     House of Representatives.
