No. 460 76R9058 JBR-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes great 1-2 pleasure in welcoming the members and alumni of Leadership 1-3 Southeast Texas as they visit the State Capitol on March 22, 1999; 1-4 and 1-5 WHEREAS, A program of Partnership of Southeast Texas, 1-6 Leadership Southeast Texas includes citizens from the counties of 1-7 Orange, Jefferson, Hardin, Tyler, Newton, Jasper, Liberty, and 1-8 Chambers as well as the Bolivar Peninsula of Galveston County; and 1-9 WHEREAS, This civic-oriented, educational program is designed 1-10 to identify and motivate leaders in Southeast Texas and to provide 1-11 opportunities for leadership development; in conjunction with these 1-12 goals, the program offers individuals a chance to expand their 1-13 knowledge by communicating with people outside of their regular 1-14 professional and social circles; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Leadership Southeast Texas works to promote a better 1-16 understanding of this unique area of the state, noting the 1-17 strengths, weaknesses, obstacles, and opportunities that relate to 1-18 economic development, regional unity, and quality of life; in 1-19 addition, members identify timely issues that are significant to 1-20 ongoing area development and encourage the initiation of innovative 1-21 approaches to these issues; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Members of Leadership Southeast Texas have 1-23 demonstrated true dedication to their communities and, as they 1-24 continue to strive to reach their worthy goals, they are most 2-1 deserving of special commendation for their significant 2-2 contributions to their fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby recognize March 22, 1999, as Leadership 2-5 Southeast Texas Day at the Capitol and commend the participants and 2-6 alumni of Leadership Southeast Texas for their superior community 2-7 involvement; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-9 prepared for the members of Leadership Southeast Texas as an 2-10 expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
