R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 Ruby Cofer Peterson of Dallas for her artistic achievements in the 1-3 field of cosmetology; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A Dallas native, Ms. Peterson graduated from Lincoln 1-5 High School; she pursued a career in cosmetology, earning 1-6 certification by the Texas Association of Cosmetologists in 1956, 1-7 and continued her studies at the University of Chicago and Prairie 1-8 View A&M University; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Ms. Peterson was a technician specialist for Johnson 1-10 Products and later founded her own highly successful business, 1-11 which she has owned for 43 years; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Inspired by the myriad styling possibilities of 1-13 hair, Ms. Peterson is extremely adept at braiding, weaving, 1-14 curling, and straightening her clients' hair in order to achieve 1-15 the ideal look for each person; and 1-16 WHEREAS, She is one of the most respected artisans in her 1-17 field of endeavor and has won many awards in competitions at the 1-18 Hair and Fashion Expose; and 1-19 WHEREAS, In recognition of her outstanding work, Ms. Peterson 1-20 will be honored by the Dallas Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta 1-21 Sorority, Inc., on March 21, 1999, at the African American Museum 1-22 in Dallas; and 1-23 WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Ruby Peterson has applied her 1-24 considerable talents in an innovative and aesthetic manner, and it 2-1 is indeed appropriate that she be honored for her accomplishments 2-2 at this time; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby congratulate Ruby Cofer Peterson on her 2-5 outstanding artistic contributions and extend to her sincere best 2-6 wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-8 prepared for Ms. Peterson as an expression of high regard by the 2-9 Texas House of Representatives.
